Always one who loves a party, the most difficult task was finding what I was looking for. And at times not knowing what I was looking for.

When my career stepped me into the events space, sourcing providers was time consuming and when deadlines needed to be met, it added to the pressure. I was never sure I had a complete view of all providers so I was often second guessing my decisions.

I realised there had to be a better way. With a background in Events, Projects and Business, Hooley was created.

During my career as a magazine editor, I’ve worked on titles such as delicious. in Australia and New Zealand’s iconic Cuisine. And yes, I had the privilege of eating A LOT of great food.
I now live in beautiful Mount Maunganui where I’m a freelance journalist, taking on fun jobs such as editing local magazine Our Place and now Hooley! Having spent much of my career being across the latest trends and ideas in food, restaurants and events, writing for Hooley is right up my alley.

My personal business journey is pretty unusual – I’ve been involved in a wide variety of businesses but the element that has always excited me…

…is getting small business owners to cut through the clutter… and find an effective method of connecting their awesome “thing”, with the perfect customer, without wasting huge dollars on ineffective marketing strategies.

I started a digital marketing agency that ONLY focussed on small business, with limited budgets, because I could see that Kiwi’s with great little businesses, either spent nothing on marketing and made a mess of it, OR stumped up huge money to pay big agency rates, with often little to show for it in return.

I love helping small business owners navigate the journey of building an effective marketing engine for their business – often times we’ll focus on the basics, like website copy and calls to action, enhanced Facebook marketing, building an email list, before even a dollar is spent on digital ads like Facebook Ads and Google Ads.

I’m looking forward to helping more Kiwi business owners find their voice, and then find their tribe of perfect customers! I’m looking forward to meeting you – and watching you grow!

My major events experience includes delivering the VIP Arrival and Departure programme at Heathrow Airport for the 2012 Olympics and 2012 Queens Jubilee through to leading the NZ stage of the Rugby League Four Nations Tournament. I have also had a vast amount of experience within the sports and corporate world in senior sponsorship and marketing roles for NZRL, APN, Telecom, TVNZ and The Vodafone Warriors.

Currently, I am the founder and Managing Director of Sursum Consulting and I’m delighted to have worked with a diverse range of clients including Real Journeys Queenstown Winter Festival, Steven Adams Invitational, Scott Mclaughlin Grand Prix. Rotorua Economic Development, and the NZ Masters Games to name a few.
